iPhone 3G "Cellular Data Network" settings is not visible
In some networks cellular data network/APN settings menu will be hidden. Apple still thinks that all iPhone users are dumb, thatz why advanced options are removed from the interface. If the network is predefined in iPhone then the cellular data network/APN settings will be hidden. There are a lot of options in internet to make the settings visible, but none of them worked for me. The network settings are saved under the folder /System/Libraries/Carrier Bundles/. In my case the network is Vodafone India and the directory under Carrier Bundles is Vodafone_in.bundles. The settings for Vodafone India is stored under Vodafone_in.bundles directory. The following steps will help you to reenable the option
1. Rename the directory Vodafone_in.bundles under /System/Libraries/Carrier Bundles/ to ~Vodafone_in.bundles
2. Restart iPhone 3G, after turned on iPhone will ge crazy in searching for network settings. The entire battery may drain in few hours and your phone may not be able to receive calls.
3. Open Settings->General->Network, Cellular Data Network will be visible now.
4. Enter the APN settings of your current network.
5. Restart your phone (I dont know whether restart is required, however as a safe step restart you phone).
6. Now your phone is ready with new network settings.
If your network is not supporting GPRS. you can try Fake APN. open www.unlockit.co.nz in Safari browser of your iPhone and select Fake APN and proceed with the instructions on the screen
